How to use the Lab Access Test?

Modified on Thu, 14 Sep 2023 at 10:38 AM

The link for the lab access test is provided on your course page (https://training.fortinet.com/mod/lab/test.php). If there are lab performance or latency issues, we recommend running the test and sending in the results of the test with the ticket.

From the dropdown, you will choose the location of your lab (typically your region).

Use the Fortinet Training Institute’s Lab Access Test to determine the latency between your location and the location of Fortinet’s nearest data center.

  • Green or yellow: You will be able to use the labs. You may experience some delays, but not enough to affect the learning experience.
  • Red: You may still be able to use the labs, but you may experience delays with mouse movements and keyboard strokes.

How to improve lab speed

Implement the following items to improve speed:

  • Use a hardwired internet connection instead of a Wi-Fi connection
  • Disconnect from any VPNs
  • Ensure that antivirus software is not slowing down your connectivity
  • Try another computer or a different internet connection

Open a support ticket

If you cannot resolve the slow speed, open a support ticket that includes details about the following items:

  • Does the lag consist of mouse delays, keyboard delays, slow rendering of the VM display, or anything else?
  • Which VMs are lagging?
  • If you are in a class, is the lag experienced by all students?
  • Are all students in the class accessing the lab from the same location?
