Basic guidelines - First things first

We recommend you review the article below individually for all the participants who are attending the labs remotely.

Depending on whether you are a single user or a facility where multiple students are going to be accessing the labs, the below guidelines will help.

Single-user bandwidth requirements

To ensure a facility can support your class and all your users in one location, please calculate with the formula below:

  • 150 Kbps per user per lab device
  • Users tend to average having 3 lab devices opened at the same time.

For example, a single user will require a min.  = 450 kbps connection to support 3 tabs in the session.

Bandwidth requirements or calculations for a class of 40 users

Bandwidth required = 150 Kbps X 3 lab devices per user X number of users

Example for a class of 40 users:

  • 150 Kbps X 3 lab devices per user X 40 users = 18,000 Kbps (or 18 Mbps connection recommended)

If there are further questions/concerns, you can raise a support ticket.
