What do I do if I have Lab Issues?

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Issues with Course Enrolment:

Please Note: If you have received two Enrolment Keys — for instance, after purchasing additional PODs for your class — please ensure that the keys are distributed among students based on the number of seats allocated per Purchase Order.
Accordingly, students will be assigned to two separate LAB environments.

2. Lab Issues

Please note: The Lab Guide is located in the Student Guide eBook purchased by the ATC and is distributed to the students before the class.
Lab Guides are not visible on the Lab Page.

In case of any student lab issues, before reporting the issue, please get as much information as possible from the student, including screenshots.

All labs down and inaccessible

Please consult: As ATC/FCT, how can I get support for Fortinet Lab issues?

"Unable to connect" to FortiGate from Local-Client device:

Please consult:  What to do when you are "Unable to connect" to FortiGate from Local-Client device?

One of the FortiGates is accessible only via Console, but not via GUI or SSH.

Please consult last actions made by a student. Uploading config to the wrong Fortigate is a very common mistake made by students.

Check Hostname displayed on the console - if wrong config has been uploaded - this will show wrong Hostname:

SSH and GUI will not allow any connectivity due to wrong config

Solution:

Use "Revert" action on the affected appliance. This will revert it to the state from the beginning of the training.

Please make sure the device is "Active " after the Revert action. You may need to use "Power On" action.

Slow devices

  • Please perform basic investigation to troubleshoot high CPU and / or memory usage:
    useful commands:
    diagnose sys top
    get system performance status
    get system status
  • Please try to reboot the student device that is experiencing issues. This can be done either from the appliance or from  the LAB menu.

  • Please try to Revert the machine to previous state using LAB menu
  • If none of the above solutions help - please contact Helpdesk: As ATC/FCT, how can I get support for Fortinet Lab issues?

Connectivity issues: Some devices are inaccessible or not fully functional

Please follow below steps and check the affected device before proceeding to the next step.

  1. Investigate any possible issues created by  the student during the lab.
  2. If possible - investigate CPU / Memory / Connectivity issues using CLI and GUI.
  3. Reboot the device
  4. Revert the device
  5. Contact Helpdesk: As ATC/FCT, how can I get support for Fortinet Lab issues?
