What is the difference between an exam badge and a certification badge?

Modified on Fri, 04 Aug 2023 at 08:34 AM

Starting April 4th, 2023, an exam badge is awarded to individuals who complete any of the exams (FCP, FCSS, FCX) that count towards the new NSE certifications. As of October 1, 2023, badges will also be provided for passing FCA and FCF courses. Exam badges have the following considerations:

  • Do not expire and can be used to meet certification requirements for two (2) years from the issue date.
  • Are awarded every time individuals complete a new version of an exam (FCP, FCSS, FCX) or a course (FCF, FCA).
  • The version of the exam (FCP, FCSS, FCX) or course (FCF, FCA) that you completed is included on the badge.

Starting October 1, 2023, a certification badge is awarded to individuals who complete all the requirements to achieve the new NSE certifications. Certification badges have the following considerations:

  • Have an expiration date that always matches the expiration date of the respective achieved certification:
    • For certifications that require completion of one (1) exam, the expiration date will be two (2) years after you pass the required exam.
    • For certifications that require completion of two (2) exams, the expiration date will be two (2) years after you pass the second exam.
    • For Fortinet Certified Expert (FCX), the expiration will be three (3) years after achievement.
  • Do not have version numbers.
  • Remains active for as long as you keep renewing your certification before it expires.
